Why you should make AR part of your next social campaign

f you’re a small business in the retail sector looking for a way to disrupt the status quo, augmented reality (AR) may be the way to go … Social media expert, Amberlea Henriques of AdSocial shares how this cutting edge advertising technique can take selling retail fashion items on Facebook and Insta to the next level.

What is augmented reality?

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that superimposes a computer-generated image into the real world, providing users with an immersive and interactive experience. And with the help of Spark AR filters, you can allow individuals to try on your product virtually, without leaving the comfort of their own home. How cool is that?

Let’s talk about the benefits of using AR in your advertising campaigns:

  • AR ads are more engaging and memorable than traditional ads.
  • AR ads allow individuals to try on your products virtually, which can increase the likelihood of them making a purchase.
  • AR ads can help build brand awareness and loyalty, as they provide a unique experience that users are likely to share with their friends and family.

AR ads are built on the Meta Business Suite using one of the following campaign objectives:

  • Awareness (optimised for Reach, Impressions, Ad Recall Lift)
  • Traffic (optimised for Landing Page Views, Link clicks, Impressions or Reach)
  • Leads (optimised for Website)

IMPORTANT: Augmented reality ads only work with video ads, not image ads, and they will only deliver to mobile phone devices. You can place these ads on both Feeds and Stories.

Getting started with AR

Before building your ad campaign, you will first need an augmented reality filter of your product. These should be created on Spark AR (Meta platform). If you’re feeling creative, Meta has a FREE course on creating augmented reality filters within the platform that steps you through the process, otherwise, you can engage one of many recommended 3D animators.
